On the north coast of Samos stands an eighteenth century forge, rebuilt into our house. Twenty minutes higher into the mountains the second one is going up. Both are booked directly with us, one party at a time.

Kokkari, north coast
An eighteenth century blacksmith's forge, rebuilt in traditional Greek style. Two bedrooms for four guests, a garden with a pool, a copper outdoor shower and a sheltered courtyard. At the edge of the village, five minutes from the sea.

Vourliotes, the mountains
In the wine village of Vourliotes, twenty minutes up into the mountains, we are building a second house. Meant as a comfortable base for walkers, with a plunge pool, a substantial outdoor living area and natural materials throughout.

We are not a rental company. We are a family with two houses on one island.
Samos is where our family comes from and where we return every year. We did not buy the forge in Kokkari as an investment. We bought it because the building was falling apart and nobody was doing anything with it. Restoring it took years, in the traditional style, with craftsmen from the village.
What came out of that is how we intend to keep it: one party at a time, never through the large platforms, and always with a conversation first. We know who sleeps in our house, and our guests know whose house they are in.

The island
The island guide belongs to the island rather than to one house. Beaches by mood, walking routes, where to eat, and when the village dances until four in the morning. Not a top ten from the internet, but what we do ourselves when we are there.
